Out & About - ARA Chili Cookoff

As we mentioned in our blog about a month ago, we were looking forward with great anticipation to returning to the Atlanta REALTORS 2021 Chili Cookoff to defend our title of Best Booth for two years running. (Our previous showings won with themes of The Closing Dead, where we did a spooky spoof on The Walking Dead, and Pink Ladies, a peppy showing of Grease characters.)

This year, on October 14 we didn’t disappoint at the cookoff and brought some fierce competition with a theme of “We See a Closing in Your Future” – we dressed up as fortune tellers, mediums, psychics and soothsayers complete with flowy skirts and jaunty, swashbuckling pants, Bohemian jeweled headpieces and long-hair wigs, and bangles and baubles everywhere. We even hosted professional tarot card readers from Eclipse Over Roswell at our booth. Readings by Azalea and Crystopher were hot tickets as they not only “read the room,” but assessed people’s energy and harnessed their own clairvoyant powers to predict the future using astrology, numerology and empathetic intuition.

Despite our valiant efforts we did not win best booth, but we sure had a great time. As we eat humble pie, we simultaneously and whole-heartedly congratulate our friends at Atlanta Communities Brookhaven for taking top honors with their super creative 101 Dalmatians theme.

Our own senior attorney Chuck Biskobing had a blast hanging out the top spotted dogs from the Brookhaven office, especially Mayar Burton and Kathryn Campbell who, according to Chuck, had great chili and jello shots! As you can also see in the pics, another of our attorneys, Bonnie Timms, wasn’t scared off at all by Cruella De Vil (aka: Julie Caricato).

In all seriousness, we were super happy to pass the Best Booth baton to the good people at Atlanta Communities Brookhaven – a well-deserved honor, Friends!

Beyond the dalmatians, Chuck had other fun times with Jarek Maddox from Movement Mortgage and Bonnie hung out with Lance Wilson from Arrow Exterminators at his booth lit up with neon and rock ‘n roll blasting from an ‘80s boom box.

In addition to what’s here on this blog, find a whole gallery of photos from the event on the ARA Facebook page.

We were proud to be among the 20 booths supporting ARA at its event which raised $20,000+ to benefit the RPAC Political Advocacy Fund. We’d also like to give shouts to the Sandy Springs Fire Department for being guest judges and, of course, to the ARA Young Professionals Network for winning the People’s Choice and the Best Chili Awards.

We’re looking forward to running into all these friends and others at upcoming events during the next year. But watch out 2022 ARA Chili Cookoff: Cook & James plans to unleash a killer new theme under the purple tent as we battle our way back to our Best Booth title at this highly anticipated event!
