New Year, New Look – Cheers to Our New Website

Just like that, the calendar flipped and we find ourselves in 2018! So, with the new year, new employees, new states to service, and lots of other news to share, we launch a new website. Welcome to our inaugural blog...and welcome to our new look!

You’ll notice lots more of our character captured in our new website. For example, our new logo better captures the playfulness and creative corporate culture so essential here at Cook & James. Overall, in photos and images, cool backgrounds and well-written, never stuffy copy, this redesigned website gives you an excellent sneak peek into our firm’s personality and culture. We are fun but totally reliable and trustworthy. We are experts who never take ourselves too seriously ... witness our laughing leather jacket GIF. The best part about this is that we finally know what a GIF is!

But allow us to back up a second.
As 2017 closed out, we wanted to slow down, step back and assess our journey as a firm.

From the get-go when it was just the two of us in tiny little cubbies, our attitude was “let’s do this better.” We saw no reason not to take the closing to the client...it made sense and it improved the whole closing experience for clients, agents and other partners.

From the beginning, we have always taken the bull by the horns and gotten things done. We value integrity and kindness. We embrace change, accept no excuses, get quickly to the point, and always remain accountable. To each other, to our people, to our clients and to our partners. That’s our culture. And that’s how we became pioneers in at-home closings.

Because we are growing, we decided it was time to hone our online image. We replaced the scales of justice on our logo, not because we’ll be any less ruthlessly and expertly “legal,” but because it no longer says entirely who we are. By intertwining the C & J, we show we are fundamentally connected. That is our culture. We retained the purple color and it appears subtly throughout the entire website – it combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red. No really, google it! Purple has for generations been associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, ambition, but also creativity, wisdom, dignity and grandeur.

From our former website, you’ll find much of the same useful information (checklists, forms, background on our fabulous team), but also some new stuff on the redesigned website. We’ll have a section called “In the Know” where we’ll post, not only industry news items, but also tips and trend information we find valuable. We’ll give you a peek inside our minds as real estate attorney thought leaders. You’re welcome!

Additionally, you’ll meet some of our newest team members in the bio and news item sections...in fact, check the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s recent profile on Phil DaCosta, our fabulous and oh-so-interesting new VP of business

development - New Cook & James exec Phil DaCosta left the ring for the board room. We’ll curate news and happenings frequently, so feel free to stop in often.

Blog posts will go live every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We’ll alert our best pals via an e-news blast, but we pinky swear we won’t be annoying.

We plan a light-hearted, occasional feature for the blog called T4, Totally True Travel Tales. We’ll compile strange but true – and sometimes hilarious – things that have happened to our team as we travel around delivering our pioneering service, At-Home Closings. You won’t believe some of the crazy stories we have from our years of taking the closing to you!

We will also invite our valued agents and other real estate partners to write guest blogs – in this manner, we collect best practices, real life experiences, and offer valuable material in a rich, shared, professional give and take share of communication.

As we sign off, we are finalizing plans to exhibit at the Georgia REALTORS Inaugural and Legislative Conference & Expo, opening Monday, February 5 in Atlanta. We’ll be there to participate in sessions, interact with speakers, and share information about how Cook & James can help improve real estate with our signature At-Home Closings.

Hope you can stop in, visit us and learn more. We’ll be in Booth #214. Cheers to a prosperous, productive and positive 2018!
